Shinichi Suzuki

The Suzuki Method is based on the principle that all children possess ability and that this ability can be developed and enhanced through a nurturing environment.  Every child can! When he was a young man, Suzuki observed that all children learn to speak their own language with relative ease and if the same natural learning process is applied in teaching other skills, these can also be acquired successfully. Suzuki referred to the process as the "mother-tongue method" and to this whole system of pedagogy as Talent Education. Parental involvement is essential to creating this environment and indeed to the success of the student.

Suzuki students begin by listening to the recordings and learning the graded repertoire of the Suzuki Method.  Mastery of skills is built in through consistent practice and repetition in a loving environment, and thus the child improves while having the experience of playing beautiful music.

Through the teaching and writings of Dr. Suzuki, young children all over the world have been given the opportunity to become better human beings through music education.
